About SW1 Radio SW1 Radio is a station for the community, through our programming schedule, we aim to inform, entertain, and incorporate different communities within our broadcast. We hope to provide a greater awareness, and improved understanding of local issues, and raise the profile of local services. South Westminster is an affluent area but is also home to some of the most underprivileged people in London. In 2004 it was recognised that the Westminster area would benefit from a community project that delivered training to those interested in radio broadcasting. It was also recognised that such a platform could be used to bring members of the South Westminster community together by publicising different events, and utilising the skills of the community as a whole. This was the beginning of the SW1 Radio Station, a non profit organisation. SW1 Radio relies on the professionalism, and hard work of the voluntary committee, which has inspired the community spirit to become more involved. People from different backgrounds and cultures want to find out more about SW1 Radio and participate in the broadcast. Our project is unique because of our broadcast schedule, diversified, and localised yet maintaing an overall professional attitude.
